FAQ:
What do I need to start my Cottage Homes On Wheels business?
It starts with land zoned for agricultural or RV with utilities hookup(s). One strategy is to use "non-productive" parcels by removing trees and turn that portion into income property. Financing plans are available. There is no minimum or maximum to the number of cottage homes on wheels you can purchase.
Are Cottage Homes On Wheels insulated for sub-freezing conditions?
YES! Each unit comes with a lifetime guarantee on the trailer and metal frames which are expected to hold up long past a traditionally built dwelling. And there will be MUCH less maintenance since the units are above the ground! (Greatly reduced chances of water damage or standing water.) We COMPLETELY (floor, roof, and all walls) wrap the units with a space-age insulation similar to what is used by firefighters. There are two versions of this material. We generally use the single layer recommended for use south of the old Mason-Dixon line. If the units go north of that, we use the heavier version of the same material. The smallest "Split" heating/AC unit on the market is more than adequate to keep the units comfortable in any weather.

Can Cottage Homes On Wheels Be Sustainable?
YES! Each one is VERY eco-friendly because the insulation is non-toxic and better for the environment than traditional R-rated insulation. The electricity used to run these units, including heating and cooling costs is VERY low compared to traditionally built units. They also leave a small footprint on the environment which makes them appealing to younger travelers. Meanwhile, if your property has (or has space for) solar panels, there could be additional savings for residents or tenants.
Will Cottage Homes On Wheels Work For Properties Zoned Residential?
Yes, but some municipalities place restrictions on acceptable size and square footage which prevent this opportunity within residential zoning. However, some municipalities embrace the concept and offer tax and energy incentives for developers. Cottage Homes On Wheels are not subject to residential property inspection criteria when placed in agricultural or RV zoning.
How many Cottage Homes On Wheels Can We Place On One Acre?
There is currently no minimum or maximum amount you can place per acre within agricultural or RV zoning. However, considerations include the available number of hookups, how much space is desired between neighboring Cottage Homes, a street or access road, and desired logistics. It may be possible to place them along a creek or river, near rows of crops or a garden, or in rows for student, employee, or temporary housing for large groups.
Can Real Estate and Small Business Investors Really Do This On Agriculture Zoned Properties?
YES! These were designed specifically with this in mind. In fact, you may not be required to own the land. You can find helpful research in the outside link below:
